Bangash

Bangash is a Pashtun tribe settled in Pakistan. They are found mainly in the district and city of Kohat (also known as Kohistan) and in various surrounding towns such as Tirah, Obbatal, Darsamand, Hangu which is located in Kohat distric, Toghbala and Toraori in the Sarhad of Pakistan. Some Bangash are also settled in Khorasan and Mazandaran in Iran. Bangash are also found in India, especially in Farrukhabad. The Nawab of Farrukhabad was from the Bangash Tribe whose dynasty ruled until 1801 when power was transferred to the British. The Bangash speak the Pushtu dialect of Pashto. They are settlers originally from jalalabad in Afghanistan and have recently settled in regions of Pakistan and Iran.

They also live in thall city and federal areas Parachinar.Hangu distt bears shining stars on its galaxy of grandeur such as CAPT Qazi Naqib ullah Bangash sitara-i-jurrat who belonged to a reknowned family of DISTT Hangu.he sacrificed his life in 1971's Indo-Pak war and in recognition of his matchless bravery, was awarded Sitara-i-Jurrat posthumously which is one of the highest military awards of Pak Army.Qazi family is famous for excellence in education and for nobility.Most of the members of Qazi family are at commissioned ranks of Armed Forces of Pakistan.History of Qazi family traces back to Qazi Ameer khan who was QAZI-UL-QUZZAH (chief justice)in British Empire and henceforth this name is attributed to the Qazi Ameer's heirs though they are Bangash by caste.Qazi halimullah was a rich trader of the city before partition who had a transport company at times when people didnt have even a donkey to ride. But despite being so rich he was very kind to his people, helping them at hard times by all possible means.He gave scholarship to many talented but poor students for study purposes.Zafar Bangash, a reknowned scholar,, settled in Canada, also belongs to Hangu.He is former editor of Crescent International and presently director of Institute of Contemporary and Islamic thought (ICIT) at Ontario, Canada.He is famous for his nobility, and efforts for peace and inter-racial dialogue and to present a broader and modern image of Islam which is nothing but peace and love for humanity, irrespective of race, colour or creed.
