Barbara Weathers (born December 7, 1963) is an American R&B/soul singer, and former lead singer of R&B vocal group, Atlantic Starr. Weathers replaced Sharon Bryant, who left the group for a solo career, in 1984.
Weathers sang on two of Atlantic Starr's biggest hits, "Always" and "Secret Lovers". Her smooth vocal can also be heard on many of the group's soulful ballads. Weathers left Atlantic Starr in 1990 to pursue a solo career.
On leaving Atlantic Starr, Weathers released her solo album entitled Barbara Weathers, with help from the famous singer-songwriter / record producer of Earth, Wind, and Fire, Maurice White, among other well established musicians. The album consisted mainly of dance music numbers. She was able to shine on a few, such as "All I Know" and "Our Love Runs Deep". On the latter Weathers utilised her whistling ability.
In 1995 Weathers released a near perfect album (according to All Music Guide) Seeing for the Very First Time. On this album Barbara showcased her vocal prowess, but this collection was only released in Japan, and today is very hard to find.
