Olson transferred to UCLA from BYU in 2005, where he finished second on the depth chart behind senior Drew Olson. Ben Olson possesses a powerful arm, has good mobility, and good leadership skills. Although he had not taken a snap during a game in nearly five years leading up to the 2006 season, he is one of the highest profile quarterbacks to play at UCLA for some time. Prior to the 2006 season opener, his last appearance was the CaliFlorida All-Star Game in January of 2002. He played in five games in 2006, and completing 63.7% of his passes for 822 yards, 6.63 yards per attempt, 5 TD's and 5 INT's. Olson's season came to an end in the opening moments of his fifth start when he was injured. Though Olson regained his health, he didn't regain the starting position. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining at UCLA.
