From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bhavani is a river of southern India, a tributary of the Kaveri. The river's headwaters are on the eastern slopes of Western Ghats range, in Malappuram district of Kerala state. The river flows northwest, into Karnataka, draining the south slope of the Nilgiri Hills. It joins its main tributary, the Moyar River, which flows in from the northeast, where it drains the valley between the northern slopes of the Nilgiris and the southern slopes of the Bilgiri Hills. After joining the Moyar, the Bhavani flows due east, past the town of Sathyamangalam, joining the Kaveri at the town of Bhavani, The Sangameswarar Temple was built at the confluence of the two rivers, and is an important pilgrimage spot in southern India.
