[edit] Thanks for voting on my RfA
Thanks so much for voting!
Thanks so much for voting on my request for adminship. I have decided to withdraw my nomination as it seems that consensus will not be reached. If you voted in support, thanks for putting your trust in me to be a good admin. If you voted in opposition, thank you as well for your constructive criticism as it will only help me be a better Wikipedian and perhaps help if/when I apply for adminship again sometime in the future. |

Thanks for voting in my RfA! I appreciate the support! the nomination did not gain consensus, but was a good experience and I'm glad I accepted it. - Amgine
[edit] Ásgrímsson - Haarde
I just wanted to thank you for explaining the exact situation regarding this prime ministerial transition and how the Icelandic system works. I like to keep my finger on the pulse with world affairs but as you so well know, knowledge on Iceland through much of the world is a mystery, partly because of the tiny population but mostly because we don't meet many diasporans if indeed there are any! Keep up the good editing. Evlekis 7 June 2006
[edit] Request to move category pages
Hello! I need your help. I need you to move, rename or merge these category pages and their respective talk pages to the correct format following MOSNUM. This is to provide greater consistency and prevent redundancy to these pages. This is also to prevent users from creating the same category pages as well. Some of these categories contain two similiar pages because of this. These are the categories in question:
- Category:Wikipedians with 3000-4000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 3,000-4,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 4000-5000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 4,000-5,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 5000-6000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 5,000-6,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 6000-7000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 6,000-7,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 7000-8000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 7,000-8,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 8000-9000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 8,000-9,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 9000-10,000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 9,000-10,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 1000-2000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 1,000-2,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 2000-3000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 2,000-3,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 1000-2500 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 1,000-2,500 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 500-1000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 500-1,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 2500-4000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 2,500-4,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 4000-10,000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 4,000-10,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 7500-10,000 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 7,500-10,000 edits.
- Category:Wikipedians with 7000-7,500 edits to Category:Wikipedians with 7,000-7,500 edits.
Notice that the changes in the title pages only require the addition of a comma for 4 and more digit numbers. You should also delete the redundant category pages as well. Your help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. Thank You once again for your time! --Siva1979Talk to me 06:24, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I posted these here under sub-section, discussions. I hope to have your comments and support for the renaming of the above mentioned categories. --Siva1979Talk to me 16:17, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Economy of Iceland
Góðan dag! Thanks for helping out with Economy of Iceland. I hope to help bring this article to featured status, so any other contributions/suggestions you could make would be very much appreciated. I chose that article because I visited your country in October '05 and was completely amazed...if I could live there, I would. I look forward to working with you on this and other Iceland-related articles. Best, Paul 18:12, 22 June 2006 (UTC)
- I like that plan and I hope to make some useful contributions to the article. It's good to have someone who is able to contribute in an advanced level of English about economics as that's not really my strongest side. Cheers. --Bjarki 20:44, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

I saw you blocked the above user. Here is another example of his offenses on this section of the page. DeliDumrul 05:42, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admin abuse
I am going to report you for admin abuse, for threats against me, adding misinformation, for threatining me, accusseing me of beeing someone else, for dragining my name into the dirt and for saying lies. (Supermos 01:41, 18 July 2006 (UTC))
- You can do that, I still believe the block was justified at the time. --Bjarki 01:46, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- So you no longer believe it to be so? You admit to beeing wrong? Great! Then clean my block log remove that I have ever been blocked and post on your own page that on the 16th of July 2006 you were wrong and then block yourself for the exact same amount of time that you blocked me. And because you were wrong you now must join my side and actually read what I have said and check out my last version on the scandinavia article and read ALL of my posts on the talk page and if you do all of that then we will be even-steven (Supermos 23:31, 18 July 2006 (UTC))
- Wellster, I can't clean your block log. I'm sorry that you were wrongfully accused of being a sockpuppet, it seemed obvious at the time but I have later found that you are probably not from the same country as Comanche. I believe most admins would have made the same decision. --Bjarki 09:16, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] EU map
My mistake - I thought the person who reverted last time was just being selfish. If there are other that agree, go ahead and revert. I see now that there is extensive discussion of this on the talk page, and although I disagree with the conclusion there, I don't mean to try to make my change by force. - Cheers Brianski 01:59, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Iceland census
I got the 1980 census figure from Citypopulation.de. However, it is the only source I could find for it. The UN Demographic Yearbook states the the last census was in 1970. If you think Citypopulation is too unreliable as a source, feel free to go back to the 1970 figure that was previously there. Regards --Polaron | Talk 18:20, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

you said: "true enough, but needs to phrased in a neutral manner". I can't believe you deleted the text and didn't even try to rephrase it yourself! Page Up 22:33, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Uhm, I don't really think you should expect someone else to clean up your POV insertions. --Bjarki 22:38, 22 August 2006 (UTC)
- Just in the time you spend reading this paragraph the deleted text could have been rephrased by someone who thought: "true enough, but needs to (be) phrased in a neutral manner". But that's OK. Page Up 22:52, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I'm looking for an Iceland administrator
and found you. I know we have corresponded before. Here is my issue. At the page List_of_Icelandic_artists#Sculptors there is a listing for Ríkharður Jónsson. However that fellow turns out to be a talanted footballer and not the sculptor at all. I can put together a stub on the sculptor Ríkharður Jónsson fairly quickly. Can you do the magic that administrators do in order to separate the two? Thanks. Carptrash 16:01, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
- I turned Ríkharður Jónssoninto a disambiguation page, you can follow the link from there to create an article about the sculptor. --Bjarki 21:49, 3 October 2006 (UTC)
I'd like to present you with the prestigious Thumbs Up Award for your good works at wikipedia. Carptrash 21:56, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

- Well I have some good news and some bad news. Your disambiguation page worked very well . . . . However, upon closer scrutiny i discovered that the sculptor's name was spelled "Ríkarður Jónsson" - which is to say, with no "h" in it. I have created an article for him -in progress - but your Ríkharður Jónsson was not used, so unless we can come up with another Ríkharður Jónsson, we don't really need it. And I don't know how to make it go away. Thanks so much for your time and efforts. Carptrash 18:50, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- Ríkharður Jónsson is now again an article on the footballer, I added links to the top of both articles to clarify that these are two men with very similar names. --Bjarki 20:05, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

- I saw that, and it is good. However, the deeper I get into this article the more of a tar baby it becomes. I just learned that the German wikipedia has an article on the composer Sigfus Einarsson while the Icelandic version does not. His gravestone is one of the images that I just uploaded. Any ideas? Carptrash 20:20, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
- I don't know anything about him. --Bjarki 21:54, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Hanyu pingyin"
Hey, I think you spelled the name wrong in your Icelandic article on Hanyu pinyin, there is no "g" in the name. Perhaps you should move the article.--Niohe 03:02, 21 October 2006 (UTC)
- I did find it odd that the Icelandic version was the oly one with the "g". However the article on is. was written by a native Chinese speaker so I would like to at least consult him on this first. --Bjarki 10:58, 21 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Licencing of location maps for European countries
Hi. You are one of many editors having expressed a concern about the licence for David Liuzzo's maps. He already changed this for the European countries without EU-highlighting, see Commons - Template:Europe location. The creator promised to do so as well for their version with EU-highlighting, and nothing will go on as long as this may not have been taken care of. Meanwhile, in case you like to inspect the presently modified licence and wish to comment on it, please do so in the subsection Comments on the February 2007 new licence for David Liuzzo maps. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 3 Feb 2007 17:13 (UTC)
[edit] Location Maps
On the WikiProject Countries talk page, you had either explictly declared a general interest in the project, or had participated at a discussion that appears related to Location Maps for European countries.
New maps had been created by David Liuzzo, and are available for the countries of the European continent, and for countries of the European Union exist in two versions. From November 16, 2006 till January 31, 2007, a poll had tried to find a consensus for usage of 'old' or of which and where 'new' version maps. At its closing, 25 people had spoken in favor of either of the two presented usages of new versions but neither version had reached a consensus (12 and 13), and 18 had preferred old maps.
As this outcome cannot justify reverting of new maps that had become used for some countries, seconds before February 5, 2007 a survey started that will be closed at February 20, 2007 23:59:59. It should establish whether the new style maps may be applied as soon as some might become available for countries outside the European continent (or such to depend on future discussions), and also which new version should be applied for which countries.
Please note that since January 1, 2007 all new maps became updated by David Liuzzo (including a world locator, enlarged cut-out for small countries) and as of February 4, 2007 the restricted licence that had jeopardized their availability on Wikimedia Commons, became more free. The subsections on the talk page that had shown David Liuzzo's original maps, now show his most recent design.
Please read the discussion (also in other sections α, β, γ, δ, ε, ζ, η, θ) and in particular the arguments offered by the forementioned poll, while realizing some comments to have been made prior to updating the maps, and all prior to modifying the licences, before carefully reading the presentation of the currently open survey. You are invited to only then finally make up your mind and vote for only one option.
There mustnot be 'oppose' votes; if none of the options would be appreciated, you could vote for the option you might with some effort find least difficult to live with - rather like elections only allowing to vote for one of several candidates. Obviously, you are most welcome to leave a brief argumentation with your vote. Kind regards. — SomeHuman 7 Feb 2007 20:04 (UTC)
