[edit] you're welcome
You're welcome, Bjarki; and when you come up for adminship again you may be assured of my vote then as well. Best wishes, Antandrus 15:05, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] My bad!
Sorry, Biekko, I ended your nomination early in error. You can see my comments on RfA talk if you like. Cheers, Cecropia | explains it all ® 15:59, 15 Apr 2005 (UTC)
The voting had returned. I am disappointed and bit suprised that artifical (but easy to quantify) criteria took over deeper understanding. My theory is that this could be emergent property of large organisations - I have seen similar tendency in successful an open source project. Pavel Vozenilek
Congratulations that voting has returned. JuntungWu 03:51, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Thank you!
Why do folks send thank you notes for ordinary "do your job" kinda stuff? :-/
In any case, I actually checked your history in-depth, and imao you are an excellent admin, and the voting here should have been a formality.
Don't tell anyone I said this, but in future, you might want to use the preview button a bit less ;-)
Feel free to contact me in a month or so when you think the vote will pass all these censored, and I'll gladly renominate you! :-) Kim Bruning 10:06, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Congratulations!
Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia | explains it all ® 21:55, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Sanity! :-) Nice to see! Congrats! You definately earned it :-) Kim Bruning 22:49, 16 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- I am glad common sense still exists. Pavel Vozenilek 01:40, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Congrats, Bjarki! I was very impressed by your attitude even when you thought your RfA had failed. — MikeX (talk) 02:04, Apr 17, 2005 (UTC)
- Glad to see you get promoted after all; enjoy your mop and bucket. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 23:34, 17 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you!
And now thank you for your support on my own RfA; I shall attempt to put the shiny new buttons to good use. Mindspillage (spill yours?) 00:23, 19 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Rockall
You seem to have mis-understood the dispute. The text "the designation (U.K.) is in dispute." is not stating that the ownership of the island is dispute but that the use of UK on the "caption" is in dispute. The island is actually part of the UK by Act of Parliament and no other country has officially incorporated the island into their nation. Just like the Isle of Wight or Gibraltar the place is de facto and de jure administered from the United Kingdom. Yes several nations claim the isle as thier own, but only one nation has it in law. Just like Jersey and Guernsey on the same map, Rockall is part of the UK at the moment. Whether France or Ireland or the man on the moon choose to not recognise that the Isle of Wight is part is of the UK is irrelevant to its status and the same is true of Rockall. No other nation is in active possession or has taken any steps to lay claim either through legal means or by threat of occupation. Therefore the designation of UK on the isle for the map is correct. Jooler 12:00, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- How about: "UKs possession is not acknowledged by Ireland" or something like that? --Bjarki 12:11, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
-
- I have changed the wording to explain that the ownership of the isle is disputed, but some people insist on using the clumsy wording anf keep reverting. Jooler 16:44, 22 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] My adminship: thanks!
Hi Biekko. Thanks very much for your vote for my RfA. I promise to be prudent, wise, sagacious and totally unilateral in all my admin affairs. I should say that I am very pleased at the number of people who supported me – it's very nice to know I'm making a positive impact. Cheers again, Smoddy (Rabbit and pork) 21:18, 24 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Faxafloi location
Hi Bjarki. I just gave Faxaflói a light edit and I noticed that there is no map. There's a link but the map isn't there. Can I ask you to check that it uploaded properly and that you've used the right title? Grace Note 02:58, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- The file is on the Commons and the filename is correctly linked in the Faxaflói article, this appears to be some kind of an issue with the Commons. I added a similar map to the article Eyjafjörður yesterday as well and the same problem appeared there also but now the map displays correctly, perhaps it's enough to give Faxaflói some time also and hope that this gets fixed. --Bjarki 15:03, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)
[edit] RFA thanks
Id like to thank you for supporting me in my unsuccesful bid for adminship, I kinda expected it to fail, but I figured "what the hell, it'll make RC patrol easier, why not go for it :P". Anyway, thanks. Gkhan 02:05, Apr 30, 2005 (UTC)
[edit] RfA
Hi Biekko, you may remember me as Chammy Koala. I was just looking at an RfA which isn't doing too well, and it made me think of you as it is simillar. So maybe you could have a look at it and see what you think? Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Ausir. Thanks for your time, --Silversmith 18:01, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Icelandic names
Hi there! I'm wondering, at Icelandic biographical articles like Selma (singer) (Selma Björnsdóttir), Megas (Magnús Þór Jónsson) and Jónsi (Jón Jósep Snæbjörnsson), do you think it would make sense to replace the term "full name" with "Icelandic name"? If I'm not mistaken these are Icelandic names, aren't they? :) --Nikai 09:04, 18 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- They are Icelandic names of course, they are also the full names of these people so there is nothing wrong with using that term. --Bjarki 22:06, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] RE: Maps
I am wanting to generate some maps for the OrthodoxWiki and I would love to know how you have made the maps you have uploaded into Wikipedia (e.g. the Ireland article). Any help you could give is appreciated.

[edit] "(We don't need EVERY detail about his family tree, okay?)"
Hello Biekko: I am almost in an editing war regarding an article [that I did not write] about Einar H. Kvaran. the last edit came with the comment "(We don't need EVERY detail about his family tree, okay?)" I figured that if every Icelander on wikipedia suggested that in fact we do need every detail - or at least a lot of them - then perhaps this person would back off a bit. If you go to the article and look at the history you will pick up the thread. Carptrash 03:51, 6 September 2005 (UTC) PS I just added myself to the Icelandic wikipedians list as being associated with Iceland, as opposed to living there. You might consider it too.

[edit] Translation
Please, I need to know the meaning of the following Icelandic words so that I could be able to publish an article about an album by Björgvin Gíslason. The words are the following:
- Útsetningar
- Útlit
- Pressun
Pressun could be translated as (vynil) printing, right?
That’s all. I hope you could help me. Regards, Luis María Benítez 19:39, 9 September 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Islands of Iceland: Rockall
I admit to being provocative. I nearly added [[category:Islands of Canada]] too, because it the article has descended to the level of dogs spraying their territory. --Red King 18:27, 16 February 2006 (UTC)
- In that case, you should probably take a look at Wikipedia:Don't disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. --Bjarki 16:56, 20 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] European Union
You have reverted my factually correct edits - and you seem to have done it in a manner like a rollback. Forgive me if I am mistaken here, but I suspect that you have not given any thought to your action here. My alteration was a factual correction. You have not stated any reason for your amendment. Can you please put a comment on the article talk page or revert it back again. Thanks for your understanding.--jrleighton 09:15, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
- I reverted your edit because it was wrong, it still is. --Bjarki 10:27, 23 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] A Thank You and a Request
Thank you for your comment on the Jena Malone page in regard to the Punk'd reference I deleted.
I am now involved in a dispute over the same issue in reference to the Lindsay Lohan article. I feel that it is irrelevant content, but User:RadioKirk feels that it is relevant. However, instead of addressing my concerns, I feel that he is ignoring my suggestions and attempting to claim that I am antagonizing him (even though I feel like he is attempting to antagonize me). I would appreciate your insight and help on the issue, if possible. Since you seem to understand my view on the matter, I was hoping you could help me address this issue the other page as well. -- backburner001 21:25, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/High Icelandic
Could you take a look? Pavel Vozenilek 22:51, 24 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Looking for help,
or at least, an opinion. I just posted an article on Ásmundar Sveinsson without realizing that there atready was an Ásmundur Sveinsson one. I got the spelling from a book about him, that for reasons probably only understandable to someone who speaks Icelandic, the name is spelled both ways. Now I am not sure what to do and decided that I should seek help from someone who is both an administrator and and Icelander. So . . . . . ............ ? Carptrash 21:07, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
- Oh yes, I also posted an article on Ásmundur's one-time wife Gunnfrídur Jónsdóttir that could use some looking over and perhaps added to the List of Icelanders that is here somewhere.
