Bledug kuwu

Bledug kuwu is a mud volcano phenomenon located at Kuwu village, subdistrict Purwodadi, district Grobogan, Central Java, Indonesia. This place can be reached from Purwodadi by bus or any vehicle for about 1 hour (28km, with ugly roads). What make this place interesting is the continued mud erruption with a BLOOB! sound. That's whay this place called as Bledug Kuwu. Bledug = the BLOOB noise and Kuwu is the village where this place is located.

The local tale story said that this place is a canal that connected this place (previously known as Medang Kamolan Kingdom) to Southern Ocean or Indian Ocean which used by a giant snake named Joko Linglung known as the son of Aji Saka or Aji Soko after the snake killed Dewata Cengkar, Aji Saka's enemy.

In geology, this mud volcanoes phenomenon is not a strange thing. Many such phenomenon found at another place on earth. To mention a few, there's a place in Palo Seco, Trinidad & Tobago, Africa.

Local citizen use the water from the mud to obtain salt using traditional method. They use splitted bamboo and put the water on it. They dried the water using sun heat and left the salt.
