"Body of the Sanctioned" (「禁忌の身体」 Kinki no Karada?) is the second episode of the Fullmetal Alchemist TV series originally aired 2003-10-11.
The disastrous alchemic transmutation of several years past that maimed the Elric brothers was for a good cause: they wanted to bring their mother back from the dead. Edward warns Rosé such could happen to her if she tries to bring her boyfriend, Cain, back to life. Cornello attempts to kill Ed and Al once again by transmuting his cane into a machine gun, but the brothers escape. To assuage the doubts the Elrics have raised in Rosé, Father Cornello shows her a silhouette behind a curtain that speaks her name: could the Holy Father actually be restoring Cane to life? An angry mob of townspeople captures Edward and smashes what appears to be Al's armor to pieces. But it's only a decoy of Al.
Father Cornello catches Rosé trying to visit Cain and he shows her what's really behind the curtain--a chimera fashioned from many birds. He leaves her to be eaten by the hungry chimera, but Al appears just in time and kills it. Father Cornello goes to Ed's holding cell and discusses his plans for total domination quite frankly, realizing too late that Al is broadcasting the conversation on The Father's own radio equipment. Father Cornello also learns too late that Edward is far more skilled than himself at both fighting and alchemy, turning Cornello’s religious spectacle against him. Cornello tries to fashion another machine gun using his Philosopher's Stone, but the transmutation backfires, fusing the gun to his arm and shattering the stone--just a poor copy of a real Philosopher's Stone.
Cornello goes to complain to the person who gave him the stone. It is the mystery woman from the first episode, and her name is Lust. Her companion, a massive obese man, asks for permission to eat Cornello, which he proceeds to do with gusto. Lust watches from a window of the temple as another associate, named Envy, arrives in the guise of Father Cornello to keep the preacher’s flock from straying.
