Boeing XB-55
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Boeing XB-55 was a turboprop-powered version of the B-47 Stratojet. Mounting four Allison T40 engines driving contrarotating propellers, the XB-55 had a projected speed of nearly 500 mph. This was inferior to the performance of the B-47, and the project was cancelled.
A turboprop-powered variant of the B-47 did fly, when the XB-47D was modified to test Wright YT49 engines.
