Bon Homme County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 7,260. Its county seat is Tyndall6.
Bon Homme County is the point of origin for the Siberian alien, Tumbleweed, first reported here in 1877, probably introduced in a shipment of flax seed from Ukraine.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,506 km² (581 mi²). 1,459 km² (563 mi²) of it is land and 47 km² (18 mi²) of it (3.09%) is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 7,260 people, 2,635 households, and 1,786 families residing in the county. The population density was 5/km² (13/mi²). There were 3,007 housing units at an average density of 2/km² (5/mi²). The racial makeup of the county was 95.51% White, 0.62% Black or African American, 2.99% Native American, 0.08% Asian, 0.18% from other races, and 0.62% from two or more races. 0.58% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 2,635 households out of which 28.70% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.80% were married couples living together, 5.10% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.20% were non-families. 29.50% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.95.
In the county, the population was spread out with 23.10% under the age of 18, 7.60% from 18 to 24, 26.80% from 25 to 44, 21.70% from 45 to 64, and 20.80% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 40 years. For every 100 females there were 123.00 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 126.40 males.
