boysetsfire was a post-hardcore band from Delaware that formed in October 1994. Boysetsfire was composed of guitarists Chad Istvan and Josh Latshaw, bassist Robert Ehrenbrand, drummer Matt Krupanski, and vocalist Nathan Gray. They released their first demo albums in late 1994 and early 1995. In 1996 they released their first EP, This Crying This Screaming, My Voice is Being Born. They have released records through Initial Records , Victory Records , Wind-Up Records and Equal Vision Records/Burning Heart Records. They have released split EPs with Coalesce, Shai Hulud, and Snapcase.
In 2005 they signed to the independent record labels Burning Heart Records(World)/Equal Vision Records(North America) and released "The Misery Index: Notes From The Plague Years" in March 2006.
On July 31st 2006 the band informed the fans about their retirement through their official website. [1] There was to be a "farewell" European tour, however, guitarist Josh Latshaw severely injured himself. As a result, a final US date and three or four extra european dates have been postponed until Josh has recovered.
On February 12th 2007 lead vocalist Nathan Gray announced a new band by the name of thecastingout. [2] While the band includes several former members of boysetsfire, Gray informed fans that it would not be another political band.
