Bulgaria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest twice, in 2005 (see ESC2005). This is due to the country only joining the European Broadcasting Union, which countries must be part of in order to compete in Eurovision, in late 2004. Bulgaria made their second appearance in Eurovision in the 2006 contest, competing in the semi-final after the jazz-inspired band Kaffe failed to make it past the semi-final stage in 2005. In the 2006 contest, Bulgaria was represented by Mariana Popova and the song "Let Me Cry".
