[edit] Live performances and bootlegs
Can jammed heavily during their live performances, sometimes to the extent that an entire concert might be improvised. This makes seeking out live recordings of the group a rewarding experience to the serious fan. Can were never a heavily taped band, but a good amount of their live performances may be found on bootleg trading sites such as etree or via the yahoo group "canopener". In addition, the band released the live album "Can Box: Live 1971-1977" in 1999, which included songs from several audience recordings not taped by the band. Also of note are the "Canobits" compilations, allegedly sourced from a friend of the band's, containing unreleased studio and live tracks.
