Carrie Mullan

Carrie Mullan (born Carina Mullan - November 1, 1989) is a young British actor, best known for her role alongside Kate Winslet in the movie Hideous Kinky. She is said to have entertained a fascination with drama from a very young age.

Mullan was allowed to do a project a year but this went out the window in 2003 when she became severely ill due to an Influenza virus which had a severe effect and eventually caused paralysis. Mullan was paralyzed from the waist down and subsequently in a wheelchair for almost nineteen months meaning she was out of work and school through 2003 and 2004. 2005 marked her return to health with an ongoing part in the BBC children's TV show Patrick's Planet.

Mullan is represented by the same agent as Kate Winslet, her co-star from Hideous Kinky. Winslet is reported to have been so enamoured with Mullan's acting that she recommended her to Dallas Smith at PFD, a leading talent agency who jumped at the chance of taking her on even though the agency is strictly for adults. They have only ever had a few exceptions to the rule, Mullan is one.

Mullan and a friend of hers Jacob Anderson have set up a charity called Africa's Children. It is a Bristol-based charity which works with a Through the Children's Eyes theme. There are plans for a trip to Malawi in Africa with a BBC film crew but nothing is set yet.
