Carrier protein

Carrier proteins are membrane proteins that transport a specific substance or group of substances in the blood or across the cell membrane.
Carrier proteins are located in the cell membrane, they transport substances against their concentration gradient out of or into the cell by facilitated diffusion and active transport. Each carrier protein is designed to recognize only one substance or one group of very similar substances. Eg:
1.Diffusion of sugars,amino acids,nucleoside. 2.Uptake of glucose.
