The City University of Hong Kong (CityU) (Traditional Chinese: 香港城市大學) is one of the eight universities in Hong Kong. The university motto is "敬業樂群 / Officium et Civitas", which encapsulates an education philosophy that emphasizes both academic professionalism and an individual's responsibility to society.
The university has a community of more than 12,000 undergraduates and 3,000 postgraduates. International students account for around 5% of the student population.

The university is conveniently located next to Festival Walk, you can find many well known brands shops. It is a transport hub with a bus terminus and two railway stations MTR and the KCR. The station is the location of Kowloon Tong .
[edit] History and development
Originally founded as City Polytechnic of Hong Kong in 1984, City University of Hong Kong was granted university status on 1 January 1995.
During the past 20 years, it has grown significantly from a small institution, housed in temporary premises, offering 9 academic programmes to less than 1,000 students, to a major University with an international reputation for teaching and scholarship, enrolled over 20,000 students on programmes of all levels from associate degree to postgraduate research. CityU ranks among the best 200 universities (154th) and its social sciences departments/programmes have been ranked 61st of the top 100 in the world by The Times Higher Education Supplement in UK, signifying the growing international standing of the university. The university's School of Law is the first in Hong Kong to offer a J.D. degree programme.

The Students' Union (http://su.cityu.edu.hk/) of the university is one of the most independent tertiary student bodies. Being registered as an independent association in Hong Kong, it represents more than 12,000 undergraduate students in CityU. Meanwhile the CityU Postgraduate Association (CUPA) is representing the postgraduate students in the university.

There are totally 9 buildings in CityU and they are still in progress of construction. The names of the halls are named after donors. For those who have not been named yet, donors are always welcome. Interested parties should contact the [CityU] directly as a way of supporting the development of the university.
