The City of Armadale is a local government Area of Western Australia. It covers an area of 559km² in metropolitan Perth, the capital of Western Australia and lies about 28 km south-east of the Perth CBD. The City of Armadale has a population of 50,000 and maintains 615 km of roads, a little over 14 km² of parks and gardens.

Prior to 1894, the area was part of the Canning Road District.

Kelmscott Road Board was gazetted in 1894. In 1910, it was renamed to the Armadale-Kelmscott Road Board. On 1 July 1961, it became a Shire Council following changes to the Local Government Act. On 1 July 1979 it became the Town of Armadale and on 16 November 1985 it attained City status.^[1]
