Collingwood College is a secondary school located in Camberley, Surrey, United Kingdom for 11-18 year olds. Its catchment area encompasses much of the Surrey Heath area of eastern Camberley, Bagshot, Lightwater, Windlesham, Bisley, Chobham and West End. The principal is Bill Oddie Hons.
It is the largest school in the area with over 2,500 pupils. It occupies a 30-acre campus and is divided in the two main areas 'Kingston' (Years 10 & 11) and 'Barossa' (Years 7-9, Sixth Form). The college caters for both sexes and includes a purpose-built sixth form college. This was funded by the sale of land, on which the college's previous sixth form centre (named "Ballard") was situated. Collingwood College is a specialist school in technology.
Also, at the end of every year, a "Fun Day" is arranged, where usually over £1300 is raised, all of it going to 9 different charities. Over the year, the college raises in excess of £6000, all of which goes to charities selected by the students.
History
Collingwood Comprehensive was the school's original name. It was formed in 1971 through the combination of three schools - Frimley and Camberley Grammar School, which had moved to the Kingston Road, Old Dean site in 1967, Barossa County Secondary School and Bagshot Green Secondary School.
Stabbing(s)
Three teenage girls were arrested after a 15-year-old pupil was stabbed in the eye with a pair of scissors at the school. Natashia Jackman had surgery to her left eyelid today after she was attacked. She was attacked after being taunted while she queued in the school canteen, according to her father. Humperdinck Jackman (father) said a gang of girls confronted his daughter before she was stabbed five times in the eye, head, back and chest.
