Crab Smasher
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Crab Smasher were formed in 2002 by Grant Hunter, Nicholas French and Chloe Russell. They are currently based in Newcastle, Australia. Their music is best described as an amalgamation of ambience, noise and electro pop characterized by frequently shifting movements of improvised sound. They utilise traditional and electronic instrumentation as well as found objects, circuit bent toys, and tape manipulations. They are passionately independent and have released the majority of their recordings on CD-R. They offer the majority of their back catalogue for free download from various websites and encourage the redistribution of their music. They are advocates of filesharing, home recording and DIY. Crab Smasher have supported the likes of Yellow Swans, Kevin Blechdom, and Sabot.
