"Crazy for You" is a hit single recorded by Madonna, originally released in 1985. The song was recorded for the soundtrack to the movie Vision Quest, which also featured a guest appearance by Madonna herself, portraying a nightclub singer.

[edit] Song history
Released just three weeks after the release of "Material Girl", the song was Madonna's first song (along with "Gambler") that was written specifically for a soundtrack. Madonna has a cameo in the film as a nightclub singer singing both "Crazy for You" and "Gambler" in the film.
The ballad has become a fan favorite, with numerous radio stations playing the song regularly since its release. Due to the success of the song, Vision Quest, on its release in Europe, was renamed Crazy For You to capitalize on the song's popularity.
It was ranked number 38 on Vh1's 100 Greatest Love Songs, and the special revealed that 'Crazy For You' was recorded in one take.
On its original release the single was backed with Berlin's song, "No More Words". The song had already been a top 30 hit in the USA (as an A-side) in 1984, and was also a minor hit in Europe. The band at the time were signed to Geffen Records, who released the single and the Vision Quest soundtrack.
In February 1991 the song was re-released in the UK. The single cover for the song's re-release was the same photo used on the cover of the U.S. release of "Rescue Me". The cover photograph is from the photoshoot of Madonna's controversial 1990 music video for "Justify My Love", and was taken by Stephane Sednaoui.
The music video, directed by Vision Quest director Harold Becker, shows clips of the movie which explains how the two lead characters fall in love. Meanwhile, Madonna sings about their love in a night club. The same video was used for the UK 1991 re-release.

[edit] Chart performance
"Crazy for You" became Madonna's second number-one hit single in the USA. The song also was a huge hit in many European countries and reached number one in Australia and Japan. Remarkably, on the Australian chart, "Crazy for You" displaced another Madonna release "Angel"/"Into The Groove" from the top spot, making Madonna one of only a handful of acts who have ever achieved the feat of replacing themselves at the No.1 spot on the singles chart.
When it was re-released in the UK in 1991 the song entered the chart at number two for two weeks, having previously also peaked at number two on its 1985 release. Combined sales topped 750,000 making it her best selling single to date.
