This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Steve block Talk) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

It is a low quality copy of a work of art
It does not limit the artist's rights to sell the image or reproduce it commercially in any way;
Copies could not be made to reproduce the image illegally in any way;
The image is significant because it is a self portrait and thus not only illustrates the style of the artist, but also the appearance;
The image is also significant because the artist is famous for producing a work of autobiography, Blankets. Thus the image helps demonstrate that fact, being a self-portrait;
The image depicts Thompson in the process of creating an image related to his work, thus helping to illustrate his occupation.

The image was proposed for deletion as a replaceable fair use image. The result of the debate was to Keep the image as no adequate free-licensed image exists or can be created.
