Current Opinion in Cell Biology
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Current Opinion in Cell Biology [ISSN 0955-0674/$] is a review journal launched in 1989 and is one in a series of ten Current Opinion life-sciences journals published by Elsevier. The journal aims to cover all the major recent advances in the study of cell biology, and to direct readers to the most important original research. Each issue, published every two months, contains one or more themed ‘sections’ edited by world-leading scientists who specialise in the field and invite authors to contribute timely, authoritative reviews aimed at experts and non-specialists.
The journal issues:
February • Cell structure and dynamics • The cytoskeleton; cell shape and polarization; cell movement, migration and chemotaxis.
April • Cell regulation • Signalling molecules and their receptors; G proteins; phosphorylation and dephosphorylation; intracellular calcium; cellular clocks and oscillators; protein modifications.
June • Nucleus and gene expression • Nuclear and chromosome structure; DNA mutation, recombination, replication and repair; gene expression from transcription to protein assembly and folding; mitochondrial/chloroplast genes.
August • Membranes and organelles • Protein transport; vesicular transport; endocytosis; membrane structure and synthesis; membrane lipids; ion pumps, channels and exchangers.
October • Cell-to-cell contact and extracellular matrix • Junctions; synapses; adhesion; biomaterials; signalling between the matrix and the cell; matrix assembly; contact-mediated processes.
December • Cell division, growth and death • The cell cycle and its regulation; control of transcription and translation; cell division and proliferation; apoptosis; protein assembly and folding. • Cell differentiation • The cell in development.
