Current Opinion in Structural Biology

Current Opinion in Structural Biology [ISSN 0959-440X] is a review journal launched in 1991 and is one in a series of ten Current Opinion life-science journals published by Elsevier. The journal aims to cover all the major recent advances in the study of structural biology and to direct readers to the most important original research. Each issue, published every two months, contains one or more themed ‘sections’ edited by world-leading scientists who specialise in the field. They select authors for invitation to contribute timely, authoritative reviews aimed at experts and non-specialists.

February • Folding and binding • Experimental characterisation and general principles governing the folding of macromolecules (both nucleic acids and proteins) and their binding interactions with ligands and other macromolecules • Protein–nucleic acid interactions • General characteristics and specific structural properties of nucleic-acid-binding proteins and interacting complexes
April • Theory and simulation • Theoretical analysis, prediction and computational imitation of macromolecular structure, dynamics and properties • Macromolecular assemblages • Assembly principles and structural properties of large multicomponent systems
June • Sequences and topology • Analysis of nucleic acid and protein sequences in relation to secondary and tertiary structures • Nucleic acids • Structure and dynamics of nucleic acids. Atomic structure, properties and interactions of nucleic acids
August • Engineering and design • Manipulations of macromolecular structure to generate new and useful properties • Membranes • Structural and dynamic characteristics of lipid assemblies; structure and properties of proteins associated with membranes
October • Carbohydrates and glycoconjugates • Structure and dynamics of carbohydrates, and protein–carbohydrate interactions • Biophysical methods • Technical advances in experimental techniques for analysing macromolecular structure and properties
December • Proteins • Atomic structure, functional properties and interactions of proteins • Catalysis and regulation • Mechanisms of enzymatic catalysis and regulatory control
