the club in 2006 sacked coach stan webster after a dismal start to the season and replaced him with assistant toby patterson. as a result he signed players from england and scotland including jamie heard and ryan davidson. the club finished 7th and was the form team in the league as a result of the change of coaches with only 2 defeats. the club introduced night fixtures in 06 and averaged 2500 people to the gate. they are favourites to win promotion in 07 as the squad has been strengthend.
The Next Big Thing in Thunder Football according to Lule is young attacker Metin Aliu who is pushing for a reserve team spot. Young defender Feim Lumanovski has grabbed all the headlines for his eye catching displays at left back for the reserve at only 15. He looks set to be awarded the captaincy from Stalwart Bekir Sulemani who is a senior starter.
Rumours are circuling that thunder are to recruit new blood into the reserve team that could push for future senior spots. Rumours are also circuling that Captain Feim Lumanovski has failed a drug test and will be stripped of the captaincy after being caught with the drug 'speed'. He also faces a 2 year suspension from the FFV which also overuled an early plea from Mr Lumanovski casing that he was not fit emotionally in the manner of being sexually frustrated and mentally disturbed.
Socceroos Coach Graham Arnold has already contacted Feim Lumanovski about playing for Australia in the near future, but Mr Lumanovski's Albanian heritage could be a problem, with Albanian President Skhipko Skhapko having already asked for Mr Lumanovski's availabilty. Mr Lumanovski's agent Metin Aliu has released a statement saying that Mr Lumanovski has a couple of concrete offers he also said the matter will be resolved very soon.
