Dave Malucci was a fictional character on the NBC prime time drama ER. He is played by Erik Palladino.
Malucci was generally seen as a fan-favorite on the show. Many fans felt that he added much needed comic relief to the show. He was often looked down upon by Weaver due to remarks he would make about patients, going as far as calling a comatose patient a "veggie-burger". In an interview with TV-Guide, Palladino said that many real life doctors have told him this is common place word usage in real life. Many believe that his character was terminated because the new executive producer was trying to write off all recently added characters that he did not create.

[edit] Season 6
Dave Malucci is a first-year resident. He steals gear from an ambulance to go help out some construction workers injured at a site in Episode 115 "Last Rites". He takes Carter with him and they both get chewed out by Kerry Weaver. He occasionally goes over the rules to get things done; he often comes off as uncaring but can be a sensitive person.
[edit] Season 7
Dave Malucci was not seen as often in season 7. When he did show up, he generally acted the same as in season 6. Towards the end of the season, he begins to mature and understand his patients better than he used to. He makes friends with most of the ER staff, save for Weaver, who doesn't like him and vice versa.
[edit] Season 8
Early on in season 8, Jing-Mei and Dave Malucci kill a patient due to not checking all his information. This leads to Weaver coming down on Malucci harder than ever before. A few episodes later, he is caught having sex with a paramedic in an ambulance, to which Weaver responds by firing him. Malucci goes to Greene for help, despite his best efforts, Weaver is adamant on keeping Malucci fired. Just before he walks out, Malucci reveals that he has a son, which does nothing to change Weaver's opinion of him. As he leaves, he yells at her in the lobby, saying that the only reason she wants everything in the ER to be as she wants it is because she has nothing else and no one else in her life. He then calls her a "cold-hearted bitch" and a "Nazi dyke" as he walks out.
