David ("Dave") Lee Wharton (born May 19, 1969 in Warminster, Pennsylvania) is a former butterfly and medley swimmer from the United States, who won the silver medal in the 400m Individual Medley at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea. Wharton set two world records during his career, was named the Pac-10 Male Swimmer of the Year four consecutive years (1988-91), and was also a member of the 1992 Summer Olympics team. In 1987 Wharton was named Swimming World's American Swimmer of the Year, together with Janet Evans.
