[edit] Route description
Route 54 starts in Mardela Springs, Maryland in Wicomico County and continues for 3.53 miles before straddling the Maryland-Delaware line, frequently changing maintenance between the two states [1]. The state line portion of Route 54 runs through central Delmar (with the Delaware portion to the north and the Maryland portion to the south). After leaving Delmar, the highway straddles the state line until it passes MD 353, merging with DE 26, the continuation of MD 353 into Delaware. Thereafter, it remains in Delaware.
In Sussex County, Route 54 travels through Selbyville before ending at Fenwick Island, one-half mile north of Ocean City, Maryland.
