Talk:Delaware/Maryland Route 54
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Who actually maintains this road? If there were an accident, which police department would respond? 68.50.203.109 05:03, 1 August 2006 (UTC)
- That's a good question. I think Delmar is the dividing point, west of Delmar it's Maryland's, east of Delmar it's Delaware's, considering the route goes on to fully enter those states in those directions. However, I think I saw somewhere that route signs along the state line alternate between the two states. I guess the state line portion is similar to Delmar, Delaware/Maryland itself.-Jeff (talk) 12:50, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
- OK, just a follow-up to my previous response. I read about this road a while ago, so if I remember correctly it switches maintenance three times. The first time (going west to east) is when it passes the Mason-Dixon line and enters the state line portion, there it switches from Maryland to Delaware, then after passing through Delmar, still along the state line, it switches back to Maryland, then after turning away from the state line, it becomes DE 54 until the eastern terminus. I'll have to find a source to verify, but I think this info is definitely worth a mention in the article.-Jeff (talk) 02:56, 10 November 2006 (UTC)
- Apparently it changes even more frequently than that according to this.-Jeff (talk) 04:16, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Mileage
Does anyone know the complete US 50 to DE 1 mileage of the route? Most sources seem to only give the portion from US 50 to MD 353 or from the Mason-Dixon line to DE 1. I'd take some mileages and add them together but I don't know which mileages each source is giving me so I don't even know what I'm adding. The best sources for this seem to be the Wicomico county HLR, MDRoads (which gives the total distance of the Maryland sections, and the US 50 to MD 353 distance), and AARoads (giving a mileage of 38.59, which sounds like the whole route but that's not what it's saying).-Jeff (talk) 20:14, 31 January 2007 (UTC)
- AARoads is not a reliable source. Therefore, trust MDRoads. V60 VTalk · VDemolitions · VRoads 16:26, 6 February 2007 (UTC)
- MD Roads and the HLR both only give the distance from US 50 to MD 353 unfortunately. AA roads says their distance is from the state line to DE 1, but I'm not exactly sure about that. Do you happen to know where I can find Delaware's equivalent to Maryland's HLR? If they have one, that is.-Jeff (talk) 03:57, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
