Derby Acres is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 376 at the 2000 census.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 376 people, 125 households, and 101 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 39.7/km² (102.8/mi²). There were 145 housing units at an average density of 15.3/km² (39.6/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 93.09% White, 1.06% Native American, 0.53% Pacific Islander, 4.52% from other races, and 0.80% from two or more races. 7.71% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 125 households out of which 36.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.4% were married couples living together, 8.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.2% were non-families. 12.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.01 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 30.1% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 26.9% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 100.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.3 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP was $44,688, and the median income for a family was $50,179. Males had a median income of $45,521 versus $22,917 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $19,925. About 15.3% of families and 14.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.6% of those under age 18 and 20.5% of those age 65 or over.
