[edit] Bio
The band was founded in 1992 in Rhode island, New Jersey. Rather than taking the normal route of releasing demos, DA instead recorded a multitude of limited edition split albums (see below), though rehearsal tapes and demos were released later on various compilation sets. Many of the early discordance songs were structured by the band's splicing the "good parts" of improvised rehearsal recordings. Some of these early songs have more primitive song structure, and low budget recordings; whereas later releases like The Inalienable Dreamless LP have very clear production and more sophisticated guitar riffs and song structure. The band split up in 2001 when original guitarist Rob Martin developed seizures induced by excessive exposure to loud noises. However, the band managed to do their only tour, Japan, and the final two studio recordings with a stand in guitarist. Their final show was at CBGB club in New York in 2001; gaining a significant cult status in the years post mortem. The band is remarkable both for having no bassist, playing primitive straightforward grindcore influenced by the likes of Napalm Death, ECT, and for releasing the vast majority of their full-length recordings in DVD cases rather than CD cases, presumably to accommodate the unusually large booklets (normally with liner notes for each song longer than the lyrics). A tribute CD titled "Our Last Day" has been released on Hydra Head Records, and features exclusive tracks from singer Jon Chang's new project Gridlink.
