[edit] Deletion
I actively check the Articles for Deletion page and vote. For the most part, articles in there are worthy of deletion. However, occasionally, I will find one that I strongly feel should be kept.
[edit] Saved From Deletion
These articles were nominated for deletion where there was no strong consensus. I voted to keep them.
Black Mesa (Mod) - Result: No consensus, default to keep.
[edit] Save From Deletion
Articles that I feel should not be deleted, where the voting process has not been completed. Presently none
[edit] Censorship
I am strongly against censorship on Wikipedia. "Decency" is an ambiguous and subjective term. The only way to satisfy everyone's idea of decency is to remove all articles entirely. Commercial encyclopedias may censor certain articles (such as fuck) to avoid alienating specific consumer bases, but Wikipedia is not a commercial encyclopedia. Wikipedia is free. There is no consumer base to satisfy, there is no one that Wikipedia has to sell to. Wikipedia has information that you will not find in any other encyclopedia. Let us not destroy this by censoring and deleting legitimate articles that may be "inappropriate." Censorship will end up hurting us.
[edit] Vandalism
Wikipedia is a free service provided for the community by the community. It is a prime example of the effectiveness of the community and, amongst the open source movement, is one of the great success of purely community driven projects today. I find it repugnant that some people would vandalize such projects. Vandalizing Wikipedia is analogous to vandalizing your public library. It's juvenile, immature, and is characteristic of the attention whore.
I'm in favor of an extremely strict policy on vandals. Blatant and obvious vandalism should result in an immediate suspension and repeated offenses should result in an indefinite ban. I'm an easy going kind of guy, but vandalism takes collective community efforts and destroys them. I have no respect for that.
[edit] Congressional Vandalism
The fact that this is even going on says a lot about what our country has come to. And it's not just one party. It's the political culture in Washington in general.

[edit] About Me
I'm a student from Chelmsford, Massachusetts. I listen to various types of music, mostly classic rock. I play classical piano at the New England Conservatory of Music. My academic interests are mathematics and physics. I consider my self fairly laid back, but under certain circumstances that might not be true at all.
[edit] Favorites
Music: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd
TV: Arrested Development, The Simpsons
Movies: Serenity, Star Wars (Original Trilogy)
[edit] Viewpoints
[edit] General
I avoid political labels because people are subject to prejudice by political affiliation. I am not a member of any political party, although I do have strong opinions. I have a generally unfavorable opinion concerning the concept of the political party, but I acknowledge them as inevitabilities, as a party has a better chance of succeeding politically. I feel that parties tend to promote uniform partisan mindsets amongst many of its constituents and discourage free thought and difference of opinion. I am largely in support for what people commonly call "civil rights," but I tend to take the term to a much broader level, such as marajuana legalization. I generally do not support wars, as I believe that most wars are the product of religion, nationalism (in a way, a type of religion), and materialism. I'm alarmed by the ubiquitousness of the corporation in our lives and the obsessive consumerism in the United States, but acknowledge its inevitability as well. All these inevitabilities only contribute to my cynicism and somewhat pessimistic view of the outlook of the nation and the human race in general.
[edit] Religion
I have no religion. Unlike many people, I am perfectly comfortable with unanswered (or unanswerable) questions. I don't need to know how matter came into existence. I don't think we'll ever find a definite answer. Religion also tends to require faith, something I tend to lack.
[edit] Music
I dislike the music industry and the RIAA. I think music is becoming more and more of a money making device and less and less of an art. I find that the musical mainstream today is, by large, devoid of talent. Music to me will always be an art, but I'm reluctant to call these 3-chord power pop tunes "art." It really seems like the vast majority of them are out there for the fame or money.
In terms of specific bands, my favorite artists are Pink Floyd, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, [[Eric Clapton, and Led Zeppelin. I've recently started listening to Jazz like Dave Brubeck's Jazz Impressions Of New York, Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall, and Sonny Rollins' Saxophone Colossus. I also listen to and play classical music.
[edit] Electronic Rights and Intellectual Property
I don't believe in intellectual proeprty in principle because I don't believe that ideas can be owned. I acknowledge its existence as a legal entity, however. Thus, I am opposed to DRM because DRM restricts what you can do with your own software in order to protect "intellectual property." I am also opposed to software patents and trusted computing.
[edit] Open Source
I'm a supporter of open source software. I use:
Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird
Gaim
OpenOffice.org
Media Player Classic
Dev-C++
FileZilla
