Portable Document Format (PDF) var et åben standard filformat skabt af Adobe Systems i 1993 og bliver nu forberedt til at blive en ISO standard[1]. PDF bliver anvendt til at repræsentere 2-dimensionelle dokumenter i et apparatuafhængigt og skærmopløsningsuafhængigt dokument med fast opsætning.
