El Club Naval de Ferrol
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
El Club Naval de Ferrol It was originally created in the 1970s by the Spanish Ministry of Defence (Spanish MOD) for the amusement and entertaining of the Spanish Navy personnel and their families posted to the Naval Station of El Ferrol.
During the early years and well into the 1980s the entire club consisted of two clearly different clubs which still exist today, though the entire institution works in a more integrated way. The two clubs are El Club Naval de Oficiales de Ferrol and El Club Naval de Suboficiales de Ferrol.
Since the 1990s an open up to the public started, which had much to do with new ways of thinking and the arrival of a fully professional Spanish Navy. And as a consequence of that, the new century, has started with a new “State of Affairs” which is far more inclined to look after the entertainment and wellbeing of both communities: the military and the civilian.
This institution counts with an excellent library (with some antique and rare books) swimming pools, golf courses, football, basket ball and tennis courts, restaurants, dancing halls, sailing clubs, and a long etc… which includes a naval museum, now open to the public.
