Elkins Park (SEPTA station)

Elkins Park is a SEPTA Regional Rail located in the Elkins Park neighborhood of Cheltenham Township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and is along the SEPTA Main Line. The station builing is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its notable architecture. The stations is located in at the intersection of Park Avenue and Spring Avenues. Elkins Park station is served by the R1, R2, R3, and R5 Regional Rail lines.

The station was constructed in 1898 by Cope & Stewardson, for a cost of $40,000. [1] The Queen Anne Style architecture of the station resulted in the station being added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. [2]
The station is composed of low-level, non handicapped accessible, railway platforms. In FY 2005, Elkins Park station had a weekday average of 445 boardings and 422 alightings. [3]

Elkins Park Station is located along the SEPTA Main Line. Elkins Park station is served by most R1 trains to Philadelphia International Airport, although half of peak hour and midday weekday trains terminate at Temple University station, below Elkins Park . The station is also served by numerous R2 Warminster line and R3 West Trenton line trains, especially on Weekends, when all R2 and R3 trains stop at Elkins Park Station. On Weekdays, a few R5 Lansdale trains stop at Elkins Park. [4]
In addition to Regional Rail trains, SEPTA bus route 28 also serves Elkins Park Station. [5]
