Engineering Science
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Engineering Science is multidisciplinary program designed to integrate the sciences with areas of traditional engineering such as research, design and analysis. A core of basic courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry forms the foundation of the curriculum and the student is free to choose from a number of electives to pursue his area of interest. Typical areas include but are not limited to fluid dynamics, solid mechanics, operations research, dynamical systems, bioengineering, solid-state devices, materials science, and electromagnetics. Both undergraduate and graduate programs in Engineering Science are offered at the university level. Notable among these are the Engineering Science and Mechanics programs offered at University of Auckland, University of Oxford, Pennsylvania State University, University of Toronto and Virginia Tech.
[edit] Engineering Science and Mechanics
Engineering Science and Mechanics programs typically provide a multi- and interdisciplinary education, combing Engineering Science with more focus on the applied mechanics. This study is offered, among others, at Virginia Tech and Penn State University.
