[edit] Year navigation in academy awards
Hi ACupOfCoffe, I have traced the addition of the big year navigation template of the academy awards to you (March 6th). The fact that the award for films of a certain year is awarded in the next year is often confusing. However the header of the navigation states "award ceremonies", whereas the years linked refer to the year of films honored. Either the header should be changed or some note should be added. I have been doing large scale updating in the years in film (as in 1985 in film) and have been adding awards and making things more consistent through the years. Golden Globe also partially uses such a navigation and I intend to apply it to all the award years too. So this is a point that has to be made very clear, or there is bound to be confusion. [edit] I have 30-second .ogg audio clips -- but what should I select for licensing?
Hello there, ACupOfCoffee. I am working on an A-class article of an Indian music composer (Ilaiyaraaja). I have recorded 30 second audio clips of this musician's songs in .ogg format, to include on his Wiki as sound samples (the Michael Jackson page does it). Now, my question is this: when I upload it onto the Wikipedia Commons, what sort of licensing should I select, since these are 30-second audio clips that I had created based on this musician's songs? I have read the fair use guide on Wikipedia[[1]]. I know that I may have to provide 'fair use rationale' for putting these audio clips are, thats no problem. But I just want to know if I could go ahead and do it now or do I need to get permission from the musician or his record company first? Would appreciate some guidance as I'm totally clueless on the procedure, especially since there is a lot of fuss about free use/fair use. Cheers, AppleJuggler 05:14, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

- Thanks for your input. The link you sent from the free software foundation rails against using the nondescript term "creative commons license". What I am talking about is the specific creative commons license that is compatible with the GFDL when the other terms of the GFDL are met.
Here's what I mean by compatible: Lets say I come across a work that is licensed under the CC-BY-SA 2.5. That license gives me the permission to appropriate and republish that work under its own terms (give attribution to the author and include a copy or pointer to the original license). If I then use that permission to publish the work on Wikipedia under a dual-license, the contribution remains available under the CC license and also becomes available under the GFDL. Since the contribution is now licensed under the GFDL, its derivative works are also GFDL. Someone wishing to use the the CC licensed contributions without meeting the additional terms of the GFDL would either (A) research the history of the article and re-use only those contributions which are dual-licensed or (B) Follow the link back to the CC-licensed source material and use it directly. This gets complicated (see Wikipedia:Multi-licensing), but is not against the rules. --Dystopos 14:45, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

Could anyone link me to a list of code-thingies for the colours? i tried in my talk page, but could only get black (color:#0000TT) and dark blue (color:#0000FG). Is there a list, or could someone post a list? most of them seem to result in black lettering. this was the full code:

minus all the "-" that I put in there to stop it actually writing it.
