[edit] A Message to "Johnny the Vandal"

Grow up, you stupid moron. You're a tiresome waste of space. I never get to see your vandalism anyway because plenty of good editors revert it within a minute or two of you wasting your time vandalising this page (and you seem to insist on doing it in the middle of the night my time, when I'm not around to see it anyway). So do us all a favour and give up editing Wikipedia, and let lots of people make more productive use of their time. 29/7/06

Seriously, go and see a psychiatrist - you are displaying classic symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder, apart from which through your activities you are a disgrace to your country, bringing the U.S. into disrepute (hint - a middle finger isn't an insult in this country). 17/8/06

Now he's gone for good because of an indefinite IP block, it's time to rejoice and be thankful he is gone. Whoever blocked that IP address that didn't claim it was him (but it was him), thank you a lot. --VelairWight 01:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome!

Hello there, welcome to the 'pedia! I hope you like the place and decide to stay. [edit] Protected your talk page

I've semi-protected your talk page for 24 hours. I hope you don't mind. What's brought all this on? G-Man * 22:04, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for that - it's "Johnny the Vandal", he's been targetting/stalking me, Hephaestos, and a few musical groups for it must be 3 or 4 years now (it certainly seems like it, anyway!). I just put it down to mental illness - it's certainly some compulsion which has made him throw away 23 user accounts in the last 6 days. -- Arwel (talk) 22:12, 6 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Why are so many people picking on Arwel Parry??

he seems like a fine chap and a fine contributer to wikipedia so leave him alone whoever keeps bothering him. p.s. sorry to read about your mother arwel hope she is well now.

btw arwel i am the guy ur locked into a mini edit war with regarding uea alumni, personally i think the list is better ranked in order of notability rather than alphabetically, dont you? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Jamesmh2006 (talkcontribs) 02:05, 9 March 2007 (UTC).

Actually, no - ranking alumni by "notability" is inherently POV and therefore contrary to Wikipedia policy, how do you decide that someone is more notable than another? Alphabetical order is the only objective order to list them in. -- Arwel (talk) 22:50, 9 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Johnny the Vandal

Hi Arwel I think you might want to see what going on at WP:AN. Cheers! --Michael 1974 20:02, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Hey Arwel,

This is Sandra Ordonez from the Wikimedia Foundation. Could you please email as soon as possible at sordonez@wikimedia.org. We received an offer from a Welsh-American newspaper in the United States, that I think might interest Welsh Wikipedia. - Thanks, Sandy.

[edit] Hello from the Foundation

Hi, this is Sandy from the Foundation. A Welsh-American newspaper would like to offer Welsh Wikipedia free advertising space. Could you email me and tell me if this is something that might interest you guys? My email is sordonez@wikimedia.org. - Sandy —The preceding unsigned comment was added by WikiBlue (talkcontribs) 18:09, 15 March 2007 (UTC).

A note has been added to Y Caffi asking for a response. -- Arwel (talk) 23:17, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reverted vandalism

Hi Arwel, I just hope to inform you that I reverted an anonymous vandal yesterday on your talk page. It was not very nice stuff what this guy posted. Just thought It might be a good idea to let you know considering the extreme offensiveness of the vandalism. Cheers! Sincerely, --Brent Harding 14:04, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks, Brent. This was "Johnny the Vandal" - if you take a look at my talk page's history you'll see that he does this regularly using a host of throwaway accounts. He just gets permanently blocked on sight. -- Arwel (talk) 07:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh, I didn't know it was this severe or that he was a long term vandal, well thanks for letting me know If I ever see him again now I will Issue no more warnings and report him straight to AIV to get permenantly blocked by an administrator like he deserves. Cheers! Sincerely, --Brent Harding 14:07, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
Presumably it was the same bloke who vandalised your user page on wicipedia. He's been banned for 5 years or something. We don't suffer fools gladly over there! Now see my question at the bottom of this talk page. Deb 22:19, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
By the way Arwel, I would like to let you know that you have three imposters, User:Arwel, User:Jack Parry and User:A. Parry. I decided to let you know here instead of a new section header because based on sockblock tags on his userpage seems to be connected to the guy you mentioned above. Do you know Whats happend to bring all of this on? Cheers! Sincerely, --Brent Harding 14:08, 26 March 2007 (UTC)
Oh well, all safely blocked. I think Hephaestos and I both blocked him years ago, and the poor deranged soul has never got over it. -- Arwel (talk) 18:50, 26 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hi Arwell

Ive looked through your edits and decided to award you a barnstar - keep up the good work pal!Jamesmh2006 13:57, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Fine, seeing as you cant be bothered to say thanks im taking it away again Jamesmh2006 20:16, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Suit yourself, but it seems to ignore the effects of being dragged out of the house on urgent business for four hours with no prior notice, which does tend to limit how much one can edit... -- Arwel (talk) 23:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cwestiwn

I've got this query from Tomos ANTIGUA Tomos. I'm ashamed to say I don't even understand the question, let alone know the answer - hoping you can help. "Currently, the Welsh wikipedia's default settings mean that all intrawiki (mewnwici) links are underlined without having to roll the mouse over them. It's different from all the other wikipedias, and it looks a little ugly. It can be changed by going to "fy newisiadau" (there's a detailed explanation about it in Y Caffi), but as a bureaucrat, I was wondering if there was a way for you to change the default settings of the site so that it looks more professional for everyone." Deb 22:21, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure I really understand the problem, I think my personal settings have always been to "never" underline the links, so I wouldn't have noticed any difference - my en.wikipedia settings are identical so the two have always looked the same to me! I've posed a request for advice/assistance to the wikitech mailing list. -- Arwel (talk) 23:06, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom

The page history for Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom is at Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom after a page move. Please move the page back. mattbr 22:19, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

Thank you, but please can you fix the talk page as well. Cheers, mattbr 22:38, 23 March 2007 (UTC)
Done - hadn't noticed that the edit history of the talk page had been lost... -- Arwel (talk) 22:47, 23 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks for your support.

Dear Arwel Parry,

Thank you very much for your kind words and supportive comments on my recent RfA. I've been shot down again, so it won't be happening this time. I hope, though, that I can hear from you again next time around - and there definitely will be a next time.

Best wishes,

[edit] Meta adminship

Hi Arwel,

According to the results of the confirmation vote on meta, I have removed your adminship and bureaucratship on meta. The reason mostly mentionned was inactivity. effeietsanders 20:43, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, it would have been nice if someone had mentioned that a confirmation vote was taking place, but I don't really object to this since I've not been on there much for a couple of years. -- Arwel (talk) 20:52, 1 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] A new category for you

Hi arewell, i remember you being a uea grad so i thought you might like add the following category to your user page.

"Category:Wikipedians by alma mater: University of East Anglia"

also i have created a user box for uea students/alumni. You may like to add it to your user page.

The code is {{User uea}}

And this is what you get:

This user attends or attended the University of East Anglia.

Enjoy! Regards, Jamesmh2006 07:37, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

No thanks, I don't believe in unnecessary userboxes. -- Arwel (talk) 07:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sonia Gandhi

Mr Arwel Parry, Wikipedia, I was told non-partisan, neutral. But your conduct goes to prove the opposite...I am talking about your zealous watch at Antonia Maino (a.k.a) Sonia "Gandhi" It seems you want to turn Wikipedia into mouthpiece of Congress party...

Your edit failed to comply with the WP:BLP policy. -- Arwel (talk) 09:55, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
