Barkhan (Urdu: بارکھان ) district is in the center of Balochistan province of Pakistan. Barkhan is derived from Baro Khan, the founder of the Barozai family of Pannis, who either ruled this area on behalf of the governors of Sibi or owned it himself. Barkhan, was given the status of a district on 31 December 1991. Presently, there is one sub-division, one tehsil and one sub-tehsil in the district.

The population of Barkhan is estimated to be over 185,000 in 2005. The whole population has always been rural. Over 99% of the people of the area are Muslims. The major Baloch tribe in the district is Khetran.language spoken in this area is Khetrani . posted by MUHAMMAD HARIS SHAJAR KHAN KHETRAN.
