[edit] Need graduation dates of alumni mentioned in article
John Bacon, who later went on to play lacrosse at Morgan State University in the 70's; and Dana Gutierrez, a Vietnam veteran and later an assistant principal at the high school. Thanks in advance. RahadyanS 20:45, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
- Found Dana Gutierrez's graduation date from Brentwood H.S., 1967. RahadyanS 04:36, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- Someone on Classmates.com told me that Bacon graduated in '67. RahadyanS 22:57, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Who was Ross? Who was Sonderling?
I tried Googling but couldn't find the information. I assume that Sonderling is some forebear of the Edward Sonderling of Long Island real estate fame, but have no confirmation of this. RahadyanS 19:21, 26 December 2006 (UTC)
- Per a listing of 1914 sanitariums in New York http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com/Directory/1914.NY.Sanitariums.html , there was apparently a Ross Health Resort on Suffolk Avenue that was founded in 1898. It had a capacity of 50 and its superintendent in 1914 was W.H. Ross, M.D. RahadyanS 18:01, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
- Found more info about William H. Ross here http://www.suffolk.lib.ny.us/libraries/bren/BrentwoodHistory/brenthisweb_files/frame.htm He evidently came to the area in 1890.
- His daughter, Harriet Ross LeBoeuf, died at age 100 in 1998, per a notice in the obituaries section of The New York Times. RahadyanS 18:35, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Want list for this entry
- Documents creating the Brentwood Union Free School District in mid-1950's
- Photos of groundbreaking ceremonies for original buildings in district
- More about Brentwood High School in 50's and 60's, with sources (probably hardcopy or microfilm sources from Brentwood Library or Suffolk County Historical Society)
- I know that there were many Vietnam vets who are Brentwood graduates. Would love to read how Vietnam War affected curriculum, did any demonstrations disrupt school, etc.
- Evolution of dress codes
RahadyanS 23:27, 14 January 2007 (UTC)
- Year-by-year class sizes, including Ross/Sonderling split from 1974-1989. Addendum: I can probably derive this from the Arrowhead yearbook copies at the Brentwood Library, though as I recall from my stint as editor in 1981, the number of people in yearbook are incomplete as they may have been absent during class picture days.

[edit] Brentwood students in Bay Shore High School
It seems that only grades 9-12 went to Bay Shore H.S. before 1956-57. A note I received via Classmates (from someone who graduated Brentwood in 1965) says that they started at Village Elementary in 1953. I'm noting it here for further research but haven't entered it into the entry yet. RahadyanS 14:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
- Correction: I meant to write that only grades 9-12 went to school in the Bay Shore school district before 1956-57. What confuses me a bit are reports that there was a principal for Brentwood High School (Frederick Weaver) in 1955. Speculation: the Brentwood school district changed boundaries between 1955 and 1957? RahadyanS 04:51, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Carl Adams, wrestler and coach
I found a Wiki entry for Carl Adams (wrestler) and added him to the notable alumni list. He is noted as having graduated from Iowa State in 1972, so I assumed (not a big stretch) that he graduated from BHS in '68. RahadyanS 14:31, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Frederick Weaver, former principal
An obituary for Ruth Weaver, a retired school nurse in the Brentwood schools, noted that her husband Frederick had been principal of Brentwood High School from 1955 onward, and both had retired from the district in 1973. I have to find documentation that helps me explain why the 50th anniversary of the high school is being celebrated in 2007, while there had been a high school in Brentwood (though not in the present buildings) since at least 1955. [edit] Teachers of the Year
Eventually, there'll be a section devoted to Teachers of the Year. Robert Frankel (Guidance) and Louis Anzovino (Language) won it for the 1979-80 school year; Judi Hearst (later Judi Hearst Weissman) won it in 1983 and 1993. RahadyanS 14:10, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Brentwood High School in fiction
There are apparently a series of Christian novels (aimed at teenagers) set at a Brentwood High. RahadyanS 07:19, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Rebecca Grella?
Someone today deleted her from the faculty list. She's no longer a science teacher and dept. head at BHS? If no longer a member of the faculty, she should be included since the list is Past and Current Faculty. RahadyanS 05:21, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disambiguation pages created
... for Brentwood High School, since there are at least three schools in the U.S. named that; and for Ross High School since there is one in Hamilton, Ohio. RahadyanS 18:08, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

Not much going on. Minor cleanup. RahadyanS 12:41, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
