Burgmann
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Burgmann was a member of the low aristocracy in the middle ages that guarded and defended castles.
Although they were paid for their services, they had to provide their own armor. In the late middle ages, the system of Burgmann disappeared and the castles were protected by Landsknecht.
In the 12th Century, Udo von Wiselo may have been the Burgmann at Sternberg.[1]
