Bursledon is a village on the south coast of Hampshire, United Kingdom. It is located within the borough of Eastleigh. Bursledon, located on the River Hamble, close to the city of Southampton, is the site of a railway station, a marina, dockyards and the Bursledon Windmill. Nearby villages include Swanwick, Hamble-le-Rice and Sarisbury Green.
The village has close ties to the sea. The elephant boat yard located in Old Bursledon dates back centuries and is where Henry VIII's fleet was built. Submerged remnants of the fleet can be found in the River Hamble. TV trivia buffs will also recognise the Jolly Sailor Pub and the Elephant Boat as the venue for the 1980s BBC TV soap opera "Howards' Way". One of the more prominent family names responsible for building modern day Bursledon are the Hill's of Springfield Manor.
