The Grand Strand is a popular tourist destination in the eastern portion of the U.S. state of South Carolina and extreme southeastern North Carolina. It is especially noted for wide, sandy beaches and mild winter weather dominated by the warm Gulf Stream just offshore.
It stretches from Calabash, North Carolina to Georgetown, South Carolina. The center of this stretch is Myrtle Beach. The area is also noteworthy for possessing the largest cluster of golf courses in the world, 115 public courses at last count, including many exclusive private ones designed by the likes of Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman. The Grand Strand is also known for historical areas (such as Georgetown) and a pleasant variety of seafood.
