Hori Naotora

Hori Naotora (堀直虎 Hori Naotora?); (September 26, 1836-February 10, 1868) was a samurai of the late Edo period who served as daimyo of Susaka han (Echigo Province; 12,000 koku). Working in various positions throughout the Tokugawa government, he was appointed as Foreign Affairs Magistrate and wakadoshiyori in late 1867, dying suddenly in Edo Castle a little over a month later, in January 1868.
Following his death, he was succeeded by his brother Naoakira.
