Jacques, Duke of Anjou and Madrid
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James of Bourbon, Jacques de Bourbon, Duke of Anjou and Madrid a.k.a Jaime de Borbón y de Borbon-Parma (1870 - 1931) was the Legitimist claimant to the throne of France and the Carlist claimant to the throne of Spain.
The designation Jaime I refers to kingdom of Castile where no one named James had ever reigned, whereas Jaime III refers to the kingdom of Aragon where two medieval monarchs were named James.
He was known as the Red pretender, due to his very leftist views, which brought him to the more liberal side compared with his Spanish rival Alfonso XIII, whose Isabellist tradition should have been less conservative than the Carlist one. Jacques lived mostly in France.
