Liezen

Liezen is a municipality in the Austrian Land of the Federal Republic Styria, district capital of the district of the same name and economical center on the River Enns.
Liezen covers a surface of 56.36 square km and has a population of 6,991 people, as of the 2001 census. The town is located at 664 meters above sea level.
Its mayor, Rudolf Hakel, is a member of the regionally prominent political party SPÖ, which also holds an absolute majority in the local council with an amazing 17 members (out of 25).
