Little Sparta (band)

Little Sparta is a London based band named after the Garden of Scottish poet and artist Ian Hamilton Finlay. Started in 1999 by founding member Alan Boyd the band has gone through a series of personel changes but has stabalised to the four members who are in it now: Alan Boyd, John Robertson, Scott Skinner & Ben Bruce. Other musicians have contributed to both live performance and recordings over the years.

[edit] Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta
Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta is a collaboration of Little Sparta with Glaswegian poet Gerry Mitchell. The project is currently signed to Fire Records (UK) and has released a minialbum, Scalpel Slice, and a split 10" with New York band Liars. Also soon to be released is an album of the James Joyce poem Chamber Music of which Gerry Mitchell & Little Sparta have contributed a track entitled The Shell of Night. They continue to record and perform together and are joined by Susie Honeyman of The Mekons playing violin.

A collaboration with singer Mike Patrick (singer) started in the autumn of 2005 that has been performing live and recording. Still unsigned a self released 10", was recorded in the summer of 2006.
