Mia Jones Is a fictional high-schooler portrayed by Nina Dobrev on the teen drama series Degrassi: The Next Generation. She is a recurrent character in season 6.

[edit] Spirit Squad and Isabella
Mia is a new student in Grade 11 at Degrassi Community School. She was first seen in episode 604 ("Can't Hardly Wait"), in which she wants to join the school's spirit squad, but captains Manny and Darcy discover that she has a 2-year old-daughter named Isabella. Darcy decides a single mother should not join the squad, although Manny stands up for Mia. At the end of the episode Manny decides to quit the team but Mia convinces her not to let Darcy's ignorance stop her from cheerleading.
In this same episode, a spectator name (Nic) at the game starts to offend Mia because of her situation. J.T. gets in a fight with him and is subsequently given a two weeks detention by the principal. We later learn that Nic is Mia's ex, and he's jealous of J.T.
[edit] Relationship with J.T. Yorke
J.T. gets his job back which was working on a children's television show and learns that one of his fans is Isabella. J.T invites both her and Mia to a taping of the show and Mia asks him out to some food at first he is unsure but eventually he comes around and asks her to eat ice cream. J.T learns Mia is caught in a school rivary with Lakehurst High. JT dies in the episode Rock This Town from getting his aorta punctured by a student from Lakehurst at Liberty's Birthday party. Mia was out of town for the weekend, and finds out when she returns. She goes to his funeral and is seen crying. She asks for a tape of JT and her daughter playing to be shown at his memorial. Mia finds out that JT still loved Liberty.
