Miss World 1985

The 35th Miss World Pageant was held on November 14, 1985 in the Royal Albert Hall, London, UK. The winner was Holmfridur Karlsdóttir (Queen of Europe) from Iceland. Runner up was Mandy Shires representing United Kingdom and third was Brenda Denton (Queen of Americas) from the United States of America.

- Ivory Coast, St. Kitts and Zaire competed in Miss World for the first time. Zaire, however, became the semi-finalist in Miss World after she placed as 3rd runner-up in Miss Universe 1985 four months before.
- United States was the first non-Latin contestant to receive the award for "Queen of Americas".
- Bahamas sent their white delegate to Miss World for the first time.
- Paraguay and Poland had made into the semi-finals for the first time.
- New Zealand won the "Queen of Oceania" award for the first time.
- Switzerland, who placed 7th in Miss World, made into the semi-finals in Miss Universe 1986 in Panama.
- Malta (Kristine Apap Bologna) competed in Miss Universe 1987 in Singapore.
