Monyash
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Monyash is a village in the Derbyshire Peak District about five miles west of Bakewell. It originated as a centre for lead mining and was the site of a Barmote Court.
Other features of the village include remains of the market cross, dating from 1340, and the parish church with a Norman piscina and sedilia. The northern tip of Lathkill Dale starts just outside of the village.
There is a pub (the Bulls Head), a cafe and a newly refurbished play area which was designed by children from the local school.
