Prince Raja Shahswar Khan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Prince Raja Shahswar Khan was an Indian prince who invaded Kashmir and set up residence at Kotli. Little is known about his past, except that he fled India when the first Mughals began invading. He married into the local Awan noble house, and his decsendants became known as Raja Awans, changinging the family name once more to Malik Awan when the last of the Raja branch died out giving power to the Maliks.
After the partition of India, the last remaining Mughals fled the city of Hyderabad, after a revolt and ended up in Kotli. The Mughal descendants married into the Malik Awan family. There are some Malik Awans living in the UK, and direct decsendants of the crumbling Mughal house carry the name Hussain.
